Politicians of all parties are not exactly noted for keeping their promises.
They will offer the earth when they're chasing your vote, then do a swift U-turn once they're back in power.
Tony Blair's Government is a classic example. It has been roundly criticised for reneging on pledges over student top-up fees and National Insurance contributions, to name but two.
So what better way, at the start of a new Parliament, than to ask our own MPs what their priorities will be over the next four or five years?
Today, we publish a list of the issues that they are promising to tackle on our behalf.
Of course, we hope they achieve all they set out to and that if they don't, it's not for the want of trying.
It will be interesting to refer back to today's promises when the next General Election comes around.
