When are Thames Valley Police and the new Tory-controlled Oxfordshire County Council going to tackle the problem of antisocial car drivers?
I mean, of course, the dangerous speed merchants, the bus lane blockers and the selfish car drivers who merrily ignore Oxford city centre controls.
On the M40, there are always cars topping 100mph, and the 50mph signs on the A34 at Botley, for instance, are widely disregarded.
And why should buses full of passengers be forced to sit waiting for half-empty cars in our bus lanes to get out of their way?
We all have our stories of cars using Cornmarket or High Street when they are not supposed to.
My favourite is the elderly lady I stopped driving the wrong way down Queen Street which has been closed to private cars for years!
Speeding in a car can maim and kill.
Not keeping to the rules creates congestion and stops buses, taxis, cycles, pedestrians and delivery vans getting where they need to go.
I write as a car driver, as well as a cyclist and walker.
To be fair, most Oxford drivers do respect other road users, don't speed and keep to the rules.
But the antisocial yob drivers are just as much of a problem as that small minority of youngsters in our city who indulge in antisocial behaviour.
