A message board has been set up for grieving youngsters at a Woodstock school following the death of popular pupil Sarah Ertl.

Sarah Ertl Sarah, 15, died in a crash on May 22, when the car she was travelling in hit a tree on the B4030 towards Middle Barton.

Her 15-year-old friend was seriously injured in the collision and is still in a critical condition at Oxford's John Radcliffe hospital. The 17-year-old male driver escaped unharmed.

Pupils and staff at the Marlborough CoE School in Shipton Road yesterday paid tribute to Sarah, of Somerton, near Bicester.

The memory board was put up in the school foyer yesterday and was covered in tributes by the end of the day. Friends have also set up a website in Sarah's memory.

A quiet room has been set aside for pupils to retreat to, and Oxford bereavement charity SeeSaw is providing support and coun- selling.

Headteacher Julie Fenn said: "Sarah was a lovely girl full of fun, a loyal friend, an excellent student and fully committed to our school. She had hoped to join our sixth-form in September and we will all miss her enormously."

On the website created in Sarah's memory, friends have posted photographs, messages and song lyrics by her favourite band, Queen.

Dozens of pupils who pinned thoughts and tributes on the memory board in the school's foyer, depict a devout, fun-loving and popular girl with a bright smile and a warm sense of humour.

Her parents Anton, known as Toni, and Christine, often helped out at village fetes and were at the polling station during this month's General Election.

They keep an online diary, known as a blog, on which they have posted messages describing how their life has been turned upside down by the accident.

It includes an account of the time they spent at the crash site, as well as the pain of saying their final goodbyes to their daughter.

It reads: "We are thankful for the life and love we've had with her, the friendship and excitement. We've both had a relationship with her that most parents can only envy with their teenage daughters, and we're truly grateful.

"There is an enormous gap and one that will never completely disappear.

"Tonight we said goodbye to someone we loved. Not forever, but for a long time -- the rest of our lives. Clever words don't work. Sarah, we'll come to you but you will never come to us again.

"We have really been overwhelmed with the amazing love people have shown us...It has truly been incredible, and I know we are both so grateful for the response that has been made."
