Oxford City's outstanding youngster Melissa Hawtin smashed the championship record by six seconds as she was crowned county champion in the Under 13 girls' 1500m at Horspath Road.

Hawtin saw off her teammate Bethan Swords by almost 20 seconds, clocking a time of 4mins 54.8secs.

In the under 15 girls' race, Beatrice Swords won the title with a time of 4.49.8, while Harry Robertson secured the under 13 boys' crown with a run of 5.18.6.

Radley's Rhys Glastonbury was crowned under 15 boys' champion as he saw off Banbury Harrier Jacob Simmons, clocking 4.38.4.

There was a county title for Radley's Danny Griffiths, who won the under 17 race, and City's Phillip Castle picked up the title in the under 20 men's event.

In the senior men's race, Darrell Bellinger saw off Phil Egerton (Abingdon) to the title, crossing the line in 4.06.0.

Laura-Jane Chisnall (Abingdon) picked up the under 20 women's title, while Headington Roadrunner Helen Barnes became senior ladies' champion in 4.58.7.

City's Gwyneth Hueter clocked 5.28.6 to win the veteran ladies' crown.

In the 3,000m walk, Noel Blatchford, of Abingdon Amblers, continued her unbeaten record in race walking as she claimed the gold medal in the Vet 55 ladies' category.

She clocked a time of 18mins 23secs for first place to set a new championship record in her age group.

Graham Chapman clocked 15.37.7 to win the Vet 50 men's race, while Witney Roadrunner Samuel Bayliss won the under 15 boys' race in 20.02.5.
