The death of Sarah Ertl has clearly devasted many people, not only her family but her wide circle of friends.
Her father has posted a moving tribute to her online, and others are paying their respects and adding their messages of support and sympathy on the Internet.
How sad that a 15-year-old girl, with a promising future ahead of her, should die in such tragic circumstances.
Our thoughts are also with her 15-year-old companion who is critically ill and fighting for her life in the John Radcliffe Hospital.
Villagers at Middle Barton, where the car in which the girls were travelling left the road and hit a tree, are already talking of the dangers on this road.
No doubt the police investigations will reveal in due course whether anything needs to be done to prevent similar accidents.
Meanwhile, it is a time of mourning for Sarah and her family. She clearly was a special girl.
