I was irritated but not surprised by the article on the travellers who stayed a weekend at South Park in Oxford (Oxford Mail, May 16).
I am pleased that traveller friends and family were able to celebrate a wedding in Oxford.
The poor provision for these age-old discriminated cultural people of England means that we rarely encounter such colourful and emotional celebrations and focus on the negative.
A few vans which quietly went about their business is a small intrusion into our lives.
Some might see it as a unique enlightening experience.
I would be far more wary walking through Oxford city centre on a Saturday night than pass a family group in vehicles on South Park.
We should question our prejudices and examine where they came from.
The wedding was spectacular, their stay was quiet and they left the park tidy. Let's respect our differences, let travellers live their way of life.
