A second teenager has died following a crash in Oxfordshire last weekend. The 15-year-old, who has not been named, had been critically ill in Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital since the smash on the B4030 towards Middle Barton on May 21.

Sarah Ertl, 15, from Somerton, near Bicester, and a pupil at Marlborough CofE School, Woodstock, died at the scene of the accident.

Pc Robert Mackintosh, of Bicester Roads Policing Department, said: "This is tragic news that the second girl has died and my thoughts are with the families and friends of both girls.

"I appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw a vehicle matching this description in the locality to contact us."

Sarah's parents sent a card to the girl's family as soon as the police told them she had died.

Mother Christine Ertl said: "They have our deepest sympathies. If there is anything we can do, we are there for them if they need us."

Sarah's boyfriend, the 17-year-old driver of the car, escaped uninjured after the black Toyota Yaris hit a tree.

Mrs and Mrs Ertle, who say their Christian faith is helping them through their grief, have absolved him of any blame, saying "he has no reason to feel guilty".

He called Mrs Ertl, and Sarah's father Toni, minutes after the crash, immediately drove to the scene.

Mr and Mrs Ertl said the two girls had met that day and were being driven home work.

Sarah -- pictured left with her parents and brother Ben -- was a former pupil of Steeple Aston Primary School and had been with her boyfriend, who has not been named, for about 19 months.

A memory board was put up in Marlborough School foyer and was covered in tributes from friends. A quiet room was set aside for pupils, and Oxford bereavement charity SeeSaw provided support and counselling.

A website has also been set up in Sarah's memory, with photographs, messages and song lyrics by her favourite band, Queen.

Anyone with information about the crash, which happened at about 7.35pm, can call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
