Taekwon-Do expert Daza Usher is looking forward to international action after taking gold at the English Kick-Boxing Championships.
The 21-year-old, from Abingdon, won the Under 75kg category at the championships in Gloucester, despite it not being his main discipline.
He said: "I was delighted. It was an unusual competition because I do Taekwon-Do, but there were a few people doing other skills.
"The whole thing was run under kick boxing rules, which restricts what you can do."
"I didn't necessarily expect to win, but I was confident."
By day, Usher is a fitness instructor at Fitness Exchange near Oxford Stadium, which helps him train for events.
He took up the sport as a six-year-old and is keen to pass on his skills to others.
Usher said: "I am now looking to set up my own school.
"I've not got any concrete plans yet, but maybe I will run it from work to start with.
"I will start by doing a couple of classes and see where it goes."
Usher's success in Gloucester was by no means a one off and he is hungry for more medals this year.
He said: "I've done loads of competitions in the past. I've been to the European Championships and places like Sweden and Poland.
"I've been training hard, not just for this competition, but also for future ones.
"I train with the English Taekwon-Do team and at the moment am focussing on being selected for the four nations tournament involving England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, at the end of the year."
