Part of the M40 motorway in Oxfordshire was closed when a motorcyclist died on May 27.
No other vehicle was involved in the accident in which a man, believed to be from Cambridgeshire, hit the central reservation at about 3.30pm. He was thrown from the vehicle into the northbound carriageway.
The incident happened north of junction 8A, near Waterstock, and lane closures were in force until about 7pm.
Nine miles of queues also built up on the northbound A34 after a four-car collision near Weston-on-the-Green.
