I am pleased to see you reporting on these Mini-bike menaces (Oxford Mail, May 23).
They are frequently seen being ridden all over Cowley Marsh Park, Barracks Lane and the new housing estate on the old bus garage site, where I live.
I was recently nearly hit by such a bike when going out of my back gate on to the footpath behind it, and have had many complaints from Saunders Road residents both about the noise and the danger to the many small children who live there.
Brian Lester is right to say that someone is going to get injured soon.
We have recently seen one tragic death in Saunders Road and none of us in the area want to see another.
If these bikes are capable of doing 65mph, surely they are motorbikes and should be registered and controlled as such?
I am sure any normal vehicle would never be allowed to make that much noise or travel so fast on public parks and footpaths.
As for Ulfat Kiani, owner of Oxford Mini Moto centre, he should be ashamed of himself -- not only does he sell these complete menaces of bikes, but he also has a big sign proudly declaring that he sells fireworks, which are also often heard disturbing residents in the Cowley Marsh area and beyond.
Perhaps his shop would be better named The Oxford Antisocial Behaviour Centre. Tony Brett (Councillor)
