Magnolia Park professional Jeremy Dale finished a very creditable second in the inaugural World Golf Trick Shot Championship at Celtic Manor.
Dale, 40, wowed the judges, but could not quite pip fellow Brit Paul Barrington to the title on Monday.
The contest saw four finalists emerge from 13 tricksters including Seve Ballesteros's brother Vicente.
Dale said: "My aim was to get to the final and then see what happened. I was really pleased with how I performed.
"I was incredibly nervous, but it didn't show. The sound system was excellent so I could hear my voice.
"There was no wavering there and I hit great shots."
Champion Barrington is also a long drive specialist with a personal best of 440 yards and Dale, who has been doing trick-shots for ten years, felt he was a worthy winner.
He said: "Paul Barrington was very funny and I think he is a very good striker."
Hinksey Heights pro Dean Davis was knocked out at the group stage on Monday, but he and Dale can have another crack at the title next year, as it will become an annual event.
