Early six months after the tsunami, the world has moved on and news of the catastrophe has largely disappeared from our TV screens and newspapers.
So it is good to be reminded that the effects of the Boxing Day nightmare are still widely felt.
Sue Norris has brought back a heartwarming story from the disaster zone. She flew to Thailand to visit her brother and his wife, intending to spend a relaxing two weeks beside a swimming pool.
But when she saw the devastation there, she lost no time in changing her plans. A fortnight's rest turned into a fortnight's hard work as she helped build a dormitory and classroom at an orphanage.
Thousands of people in Oxfordshire supported the worldwide appeal to help the victims immediately after the tsunami struck.
Sue Norris has reminded us that there is still plenty of work to be done.
