Cherwell A rattled off seven maximum 180s, but still finished as losers in their clash with Cowley Community Centre B in the summer league.
Peter Rouse gave Community Centre the lead as he beat John Fowler, who bagged two maximums.
Cherwell levelled at 1-1 with a victory from Kevin Middleton, including a maximum.
Nick Cobb put the home side ahead when he saw off Mark Prpa, who scored a 180.
The visitors levelled again with Kit Young hitting two maximums in his win over Tony Allday, who also scored a 180.
However, the centre took a 4-2 lead, before a 2-1 pairs win completed a 6-3 success.
Shears got off to a good start when they entertained Cowley Community Centre C, with wins from Neil Huggins, Mark Ord and Mick Curran giving them a 3-0 lead.
But the Community Centre fought back to level at 3-3, with victories from Terry Sapey, Paul Cross and Jon Jukes.
But Shears were not be denied and a 2-1 pairs win gave them a 5-4 victory.
Quarry Gate C got off to a good start when they visited Section 2 rivals Steventon Sports Club when wins from Chris Pollard and Paul Weller gave them a 2-0 lead.
However, the home side stormed back to lead 4-2 after Derek Lucas, Kevin Barefoot, B Smith and Les Radford and they hung on for a 5-4 victory, despite losing the pairs 2-1.
Kings Arms beat Section 3 rivals Cowley Workers B 7-2 - their best result for two years.
Mark Stocker and Gerry McGrath fired them into a 2-0 lead, only for Workers to level.
Kings Arms then took control and wins from Howard Hyde and Alan Walters, plus a 3-0 pairs success, secured victory.
