Oxford United have welcomed the new Football League television deal, which will provide them with a sizeable increase in revenue the season after next.
But U's secretary Mick Brown said it would be nothing like the 40 per cent increase headline-figure that was banded about at the weekend.
That is the sum Championship clubs can expect, but League Two outfits will receive a far smaller slice of the cake.
The new three-year contract with Sky TV and ITV is believed to be worth around £110m.
Each of the 72 League clubs, including United, will receive a substantial upturn in their share of the pot, which should help to pay some bills, but exact details have yet to be finalised.
"It's very welcome, of course," said Brown, on his return from the League's annual meeting last Friday. "But it's not as quite as good as it sounds.
"It's a positive step for the Football League as a whole.
"The announcement of the deal was made so that they could present the signed document to the meeting. But the deal doesn't apply to next season.
The new agreement will see Sky broadcast around 100 live matches a season from the Football League's competitions, while ITV will continue with their Sunday morning The Championship programme as well as regional highlights.
Brown added: "I must admit I was one of those who didn't think we would get a better TV deal because I felt there was so much football on television it was almost at saturation level."
