ROBERT Taylor (5-5-6) finished just two short of the magic 18 as he recorded his best-ever score in Red Lion Brill's 2-1 Section 2 win over The Woodman.
But Lion did it the hard way, losing the first leg 20-18, before they took the next two with scores of 23-20 and 22-19.
By contrast, John Radcliffe Club's Mick Goodenough had a day he will want to forget after his amazing 35-year record of never having made the blobbers' list ended, as they lost 3-0 against Cricketers Arms in Section 12.
The Star A's Keith Powell was another six-hitter in his 13 dolls as they dented Cowley Workers' title hopes with a 2-1 home win in Section 2.
With the game poised at a leg each, Powell's six came at the right time as they took the third leg and the game 23-16.
Donnington Club's Steve Tooke (5-5-5) clanged off 15 dolls as they won 2-1 at Quarry Gate in Section 5.
Alan Marshall (4-5-4) bagged a bakers' dozen as Donnington took the first two legs 22-20, 25-17, but Quarry battled back to win the third 20-18.
The Crown stay top, despite losing 2-1 at bottom club Tiddington Cricket Club.
After going down 13-10 in the first leg, they narrowly lost the second 18-17.
However, Crown fell away in the decider, losing 11-14.
In the Premier Section, George's Kevin Giles took his tally to the season to 80 dolls as he hit a sixer against White House A.
But it proved only a consolation as George lost 2-1.
