Oxfordshire made it two wins out of two in the Middleton Cup with a resounding 135-88 victory over Hampshire at Banbury Central.

With the win coming hot on the heels of their nail-biting success over Berkshire, it puts Oxon in a commanding position at the top of Group 3A, with Hampshire second.

They won on five of the six rinks, with Mark Charlett's four of John Philpott, Sammy Timms and Colin Whitehead leading the way by walloping Richard Shelley's side 29-13.

Alan Prew's rink of Spencer Townsend, Richard Redford and Ryan Buckett weren't far behind as they handed out a 26-11 drubbing to Jim Marsland's men.

Greg Moon's line-up of Keith Holloway, Les Campion and Gary Lucas were also emphatic winners, beating Leo May's side 28-17.

Calvin Carpenter's crew of Nick Welsh, George Moon and Mark Sykes finished with a flourish, picking up ten shots over the last six ends to come from behind and beat Nicky Jones 22-16.

Alan Ley's side of Jim Gamage, Barry Lambourne and Robin Hewson completed Oxon's nap hand of winning rinks, edging home 15-14 against Paul May's side.

Oxfordshire's only reverse came with captain Baden Sparkes's side of Lee Young, Stuart Richens and Robert Clanfield going down 17-15 to Charlie Bailey.

Now Oxon will be looking to complete a hat-trick of wins when they take on Isle of Wight at Banbury Central on Saturday.
