You have reported Oxfordshire County Council's plans to improve the A40 west of Oxford (Oxford Mail, June 8).
David Robertson, the council's cabinet member for transport, was usually quoted in these features.
In February or March, 'No U-turn' signs were attached to one set of lights on the westbound carriageway of the A40 at the Cassington traffic lights complex.
Can Mr Robertson please explain why there is no legally binding traffic order for these signs?
Will he also confirm that he has told Thames Valley Police and any other interested authority that the signs have no legality until an order is issued?
