The coffin of crash victim Josh Bartlett being carried into church Members of the Blackbird Leys community gathered at the Church of the Holy Family yesterday for the funeral of teenager Josh Bartlett, who died in the Eastern Bypass crash.
Inside the church, in Cuddesdon Way, more than 200 mourners said their final goodbyes to the football-mad 13-year-old, who died on May 28.
Josh, a pupil at Oxford Community School, had been celebrating his friend Anton Dublin's 13th birthday with five other friends when the Citroen Xsara they were travelling in went out of control and crossed the central reservation of the dual carriageway.
The car collided with a Honda Civic driven by student Howard Hillsdon, 21, from Yarnton, whose funeral was held on Thursday.
Josh's coffin was covered in flowers including a poignant yellow wreath from his brother and sister simply saying 'Bruv'.
The inside of the hearse was also full of balloons saying 'I love you'.
The service began with music used by Josh's favourite wrestler, Kurt Angle. Tributes were paid by family and friends and music called The Greatest, chosen by Josh's brother, was also played.
The order of service contained a moving tribute from Josh's cousin Sonia.
It read: "I know at this time we should be sad, because you're gone forever, but in our minds Josh you're still here and will live on forever.
"Wherever you were, your charm and laughter always filled the air, it's so hard to come to terms that you're no longer there.
"Everyone says because you're gone it will never be the same, but we all know that they are wrong Josh, because we will meet again."
After the singing of Kum Ba Yah, the service finished with the Bill Withers song Lean on Me.
The funeral for fellow crash victim Liam Hastings, 13, of Rose Hill, is due to take place on Monday, at 10.30am, at Oxford Crematorium.
