I write in response to Lisa Leighton's letter, Expensive phones (Oxford Mail, June 13).
Perhaps, next time, she may consider reading the terms and conditions of 'Orange Care' before buying such insurance.
Orange clearly states (in chapter 9, point 6, of terms and conditions) that "any claim accepted under Orange Care will be subject to an administration fee charged to your account in advance of any repair or replacement being undertaken.
"Details of the current administration fee are available on request from Orange and are published in our periodically updated price guide".
Ms Leighton also asked: "What's the point of paying £5 per month, when I have to pay £15 admin each time?"
The point is that if it is a contract phone, without insurance, your phone would have to be paid for outright, and if it is a latest model, you would be looking at around £200-plus.
While I sympathise with her, most insurance policies carry some form of 'excess' charge, and most phone companies carry an 'admin' fee when claims are being made (even if it is only three weeks apart).
The lesson to be learned here is to be absolutely sure that you read ALL the terms and conditions BEFORE signing up for insurance policies. Justin Walden, Hurst Street, Oxford
