SATELLITE technology will soon be helping buggies navigate round the course at Hinksey Heights.

The Oxford club is currently kitting out eight electric buggies with GPS equipment, which will also add a touch of luxury.

David Heads, the club's director of golf, said: "We'll also have scorecards and scoreboards and you will be able to order food and drink.

"The buggies are here now and the GPS system takes four to six weeks to fit in as they have to map the whole course out."

The technology will mean the buggies automatically know which way to go on the course, leaving the player to sit back and enjoy the ride.

And Heads believes it will be a particular attraction for corporate days.

He added: "Our plans for a new nine holes are going well, and we've had 160 new members join in a matter of five weeks."

Frilford Heath duo Ian Disney and Graham Hart finished third in the B B & O Club Handicap Foursomes Championships at Rye Hill.

The pair carded scores of 78 and 73 for a two-round total of 151 and were only denied second spot on countback.

This left them three strokes behind the winners, David Gregory and Stephen Bruton (Chesham & Ley Hill).

Burford pair Adam Salter and Jonathan Wilks produced the best afternoon round in the same event.

They carded a fine 71, but a first round 81 had put paid to their title chances.

Chipping Norton duo Neil Clayton and Matt Johnson had the best nett morning round with a 74.
