Oxford University batsmen Salil Oberoi and Dan Fox rewrote the record books with a mammoth stand of more than 300 on the first day of the Varsity Match against Cambridge at Fenners yesterday.
The Dark Blues duo put on an unbroken stand of 368 for the third wicket - the highest-ever partnership for Oxford in first-class cricket, beating the 283 by Iain Sutcliffe and Chinmay Gupte against Hampshire in 1995.
Oberoi led the way with 222, while Fox was unbeaten on 159 at the close, when Oxford University, seeking a third successive innings victory over the Light Blues, were 436-2.
