David Seymour begins pre-season training with Saracens on Monday just a week after playing for England Under 21s in Argentina,.

The 20-year-old former Chinnor flanker managed to wangle a few days off after returning from South America on Monday, but is already focussing on the Premiership campaign ahead.

He said: "I've just got to keep my head down and get on with the pre-season.

"If an opportunity arrrives early on, I've got to take it with both hands."

England entered the IRB Under 21 World Championship with high hopes, but finished seventh after just two wins against Samoa and Wales.

Seymour said: "The experience out there was amazing. The whole team got on really well.

"In the first and last games against Samoa and Wales we played how we wanted to play. In the others we just didn't click."

Seymour missed the British & Irish Lions' first Test loss to New Zealand because of the time difference.

But the injury to club colleague Richard Hill means he could begin the season in Saracens' starting line-up.

He said: "I read about his injury on the internet.

"I think it was the same knee he injured before. I have not heard how long he is going to be out for.

"It's a massive blow to be losing him. I think everyone is just holding their breath to see what happens."

Seymour played 25 times for Saracens last year and was voted the best flanker after round one in Argentina.
