Why does the Oxford Mail not lay off the Rev Christopher Walker (Oxford Mail, June 25).
He made an unfortunate mistake, somewhat magnified by the nature of his profession.
Obviously suffering enormously throughout, he has subsequently demonstrated almost saintly courage and integrity of which few of us would be capable.
The courts have dispensed justice sensibly and the Church -- and, if applicable, God -- should be allowed to do likewise. None of these need the advice of the local paper, even if staffed exclusively by the morally perfect.
Let it be borne in mind that in most trials, civil and criminal, someone or other is committing perjury, often far more seriously than this. These are the parties, especially those who lie under oath on a regular 'professional' basis, whom you should be exposing and condemning. Oh, they don't admit it, do they?
