A 56-year-old Abingdon teacher has been charged with assault following an investigation into how a pupil received injuries to his back while attending a special school in the town.
David Byrne, of Radley Road, will appear before Didcot Magistrates on Thursday, July 7.
He was arrested and released on bail following an incident at the Kingfisher School on Thursday, May 19.
Nigel and Belinda Isle, of Evenlode Drive, Berinsfield, said their 11-year-old son Aiden came home from school that day with carpet burn injuries to his back.
After picking him up from school and discovering his injuries, the couple reported the matter to police.
Aiden, who has cerebral palsy, which means he has poor co-ordination and learning difficulties, was home-tutored until a few months ago, when he started at the special school.
