CCS Home Counties League Division 2 West: Following the previous week's victory at Burnham, Aston Rowant were brought back to earth with a bump against North Maidenhead on Saturday.

Rowant suffered a 120 run defeat to slip into the relegation zone.

After inserting the opposition in damp conditions, Rowant's Chris Davies struck an early blow.

With the ball moving around, North Maidenhead found the going tough.

Paul Humphreys bowled tidily as the visitors were restricted to 78-2 off 35 overs by lunch.

After lunch, Davis soon took the wicket of opener Broom for 51.

But with Muller batting well for 61 and Paras Mhambrey making a quick, the score progressed rapidly

The introduction of Chris Watling (2-35) and Tim Bant (3-44), slowed things down, and the hosts would have settled for chasing a target of 214.

However, things soon went badly wrong in reply when Chris Eaton was given out caught behind in the second over.

Bant and Tim Morgans batted patiently, before Bant fell bowled by Mhambrey for 17 just before tea.

With the score on 44-2, the game was still in the balance.

But after the interval, Rowant collapsed with all batsmen struggling against former Indian Test player Mhambrey, who finshed with 6-29.

Aston were eventually all out for 94, with nine overs to go, for a disappointing defeat.
