CCS Home Counties League Division 1: Fiery fast bowling by Dave Angove, and some superb outcricket helped Oxford secure a convincing eight-wicket victory over Banbury at White Post Road.
Oxford won an important toss and soon had Banbury in trouble, after asking them to bat.
The home side were soon struggling at 7-2. A brilliant piece of fielding by Ronnie Sekhri accounted for Paul Taylor, while Johnny Nambiar caught Chris Smith off Angove.
Banbury never really got to grips with the conditions or the Oxford attack, superbly led by Angove (4-68) , who departs for the United States shortly.
Rupert Evans supported well, picking up 3-12, as Banbury were dismissed for 144 in the 46th over of their allocation of 66.
Only Craig Haupt (38) and Calum Taylor. who finished unbeaten on 39, showed how to bat in bowler-friendly conditions.
Banbury needed quick wickets, but a solid opening stand of 89 between Adam Cook and skipper Pat Jobson gave Oxford the ideal start chasing a small target.
Jobson and Stewart Laudat fell quickly to leave Cook, who mixed flair with controlled power, to finish the game off with three consecutive boundaries in the 36th over of this Oxfordshire derby.
Cook maintained his excellent run of form with an unbeaten 73 to lift Oxford to fourth in the table, just behind Banbury.
