A serious crash today closed the M40 in both directions in Oxfordshire.
The motorway was closed following the collision involving three vehicles on the southbound carriageway between junction six at Watlington and junction five at Stokenchurch.
Two lanes of the road were reported blocked just before the Stokenchurch cutting.
All traffic was held up for a time on both carriageways to allow the air ambulance to land.
A diversion has been set up via the B4009 and the A40.
The northbound carriageway was partly reopened at 11am.
Problems are also reported on the A44 at Upper Brook Hill, Woodstock, where a lorry has become stuck due to an obstruction in the road and badly-parked vehicles.
