A series of crashes brought chaos to the M40 in north Oxfordshire this afternoon.
One lane was closed, with queueing traffic for six miles reported after two accidents and a car fire on the M40 northbound at junction ten at the Cherwell Valley Services.
Congestion was reported back to junction nine at Wendlebury, with delays of an hour reported.
The exit slip road at junction ten was also closed after a vehicle caught fire earlier after being involved in a separate accident.
A separate crash, involving two lorries, at junction nine, led to the closure of a lane on the southbound exit slip road.
As a result, traffic is very slow on the main carriageway for several miles approaching the junction.
