A 28-year-old man who stole a mobile phone from a man who tripped up in the city centre has been given an 18-month supervision order.
Jason I’Anson, of Osney Court, Botley Road, Oxford, earlier admitted one count of theft and breaching a conditional discharge.
He went to the aid of Peter Schoen who fell in Frideswide Square on February 12, but stole a phone that fell out of his pocket.
The offence breached a two-year conditional discharge given to I’Anson in January for possessing a 3ft Samurai-style sword in a Wallingford park.
At Oxford Crown Court today, Judge Julian Hall also told him to do an entry-to-employment course.
