traffic on the A420 between Swindon and Oxford is now running smoothly following serious delays during the rush-hour.
Drivers on the route were held up after a car caught fire at 7.35am, close to the junction with Buckland Road, near Bampton.
The road was closed in both directions while firefighters dealt with the blaze and was reopened by traffic police at about 9.30am.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance said paramedics were not called to the accident.
David Staines, a spokesman for Thames Valley Police, said: "A red Peugeot 205 caught fire and the driver managed to get out and was not injured.”
