RESIDENTS in East Oxford will be reconsulted on a Controlled Parking Zone scheme after transport bosses failed to reach a decision on the controversial initiative.
The council’s proposals to introduce the zone in the Magdalen Road area to reduce commuter parking and congestion were hotly contested at today’s transport meeting at County Hall.
The county council's cabinet member for transport Rodney Rose has now asked officers to split the zone into two areas and ask whether residents to the south east of Magdalen Road should be excluded from the scheme and roads to the north west included in the proposals.
A total of 61 per cent of residents in the area have previously raised minor or major objections to the scheme, which would see residents pay £40 for a parking permit per vehicle.
