SO IF 61 per cent of respondents to the Magdalen Road Controlled parking Zone (CPZ) questionnaire objected to the proposals, how does Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for transport, Rodney Rose, arrive at the conclusion that by going ahead with the CPZ “hopefully the majority will get what they asked for” (Oxford Mail, March 22)?
On my street, you report that 91 per cent of respondents objected to the proposals, yet it seems the council officers still recommend that we be included, and charged to park in our own street with no benefit to us.
As Mr Rose says, I’m sure they don’t propose to put in CPZs for the fun of it. It must be for our own good then – whether we like it or not.
