Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist died in Oxford last night.
At about 8.20pm, an incident occurred involving a cyclist in Bullingdon Road, near to the junction with Iffley Road.
Police were notified of the incident by the ambulance service just before 9pm.
The 53-year-old cyclist was found in the road and was taken by ambulance to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, where he subsequently died.
PC Kevin Crick, of the Abingdon Roads Policing base, said: “This man was found lying in the road with a head injury near to his pedal cycle and I am trying to establish the cause of the injury.
“I am keeping an open mind at this time because there are a number of possibilities.
"I would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who may be able to provide information as to the cause of the incident.
“I would specifically like to hear from a young man who asked a passing woman for assistance in calling for an ambulance.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Crick via the Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to police or leave your name, call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
