Sir – Last month I reported a pothole in my street using the online form on Oxfordshire County Council’s website.
Within a week the hole had been repaired. It could have been coincidence of course, but still I was sufficiently encouraged to go back to their website and report that the road surface of a whole junction (Headley Way/Cherwell Drive) was in very bad condition and dangerous for cyclists. This is a busy, complex junction, with two mini-roundabouts. Again, within a week signs had appeared at the junction warning of a night-time road closure, and after another week the entire junction was beautifully resurfaced.
I would like to publicly thank and congratulate the highways department.
Lucy Binney, Headington
