A “HAPPY-go-lucky” mother-of-two leapt to her death from Oxford’s Westgate Centre car park after a long history of physical and psychological problems.
Rachel O’Callaghan’s body was found in shrubs at the foot of the multi-storey car park at 3.10pm on October 7.
Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court today heard the 34-year-old, from Kersington Crescent, Cowley, had started using drugs, including amphetamines and heroin, in 1994 but was on a methadone prescription when she died.
Miss O’Callaghan also had to use a wheelchair after a stroke in 2007, and suffered psychotic episodes.
Pathologist Dr Elizabeth Soilleux said the cause of death was multiple injuries. Blood tests showed levels of methadone but no alcohol or illegal drugs in Miss O’Callaghan’s system.
Her mother, Hilary, who had seen her the day before her death, said: “She was on good form. She was perfect, no different to normal... I certainly didn’t expect this.”
Coroner Nicholas Gardiner recorded a verdict that she took her own life.
