Police are appealing for information about a man who has been using a stolen debit card in supermarkets in Oxfordshire and other areas.
Officers believe he may have been working with another man to steal the card from a woman’s car, which was parked in the Tesco car park in Abingdon. He also gained access to her pin number.
The incident happened on January 31. In the days after the theft, the card was used in Tesco in Abingdon and ASDA in Wheatley, and in food stores in Coventry and Birmingham. There has also been more than £1,000 fraudulently withdrawn from ATMs and self-service tills.
PC Alex Norris said: “I urge anyone with information on this man’s identity to get in touch. He is described as being quite smelly and we believe he may have an eastern European accent.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Alex Norris via the Thames Valley Police 24-hour enquiry line on 0845 8 505 505, or alternatively contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
