I ACCOMPANIED my daughter to the Churchill Hospital colposcopy department for a six-monthly smear test.
It was the first time at this hospital, because the clinic had been transferred from the John Radcliffe Hospital.
We found on arrival that we had to share a waiting room with patients with sexually transmitted diseases.
I was under the impression that STD cases had private and confidential clinics.
We felt vulnerable, insecure and embarrassed when a male patient started shouting abusive and blasphemous language. It was 10 minutes before a member of staff asked him to keep the noise down.
It’s not surprising that 30 or more patients failed to keep their appointments last month.
We will not be going again until the system is changed.
It was the worst experience we had had at any of the NHS clinics we have attended.
