A MAN accused of raping a student as she walked home in East Oxford was remanded in custody today.
Yasin Mohamed appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court but did not enter a plea, speaking only to confirm his name.
The 24-year-old, of Aston Street, East Oxford, is charged with rape, kidnap and robbery in connection with the incident in St Clement’s Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Mohamed, who had a shaven head and a small beard and wore a grey sweatshirt and navy tracksuit bottoms, did not make any bail application through his solicitor, Warwick Clarke.
Sarah McKay, prosecuting, told the court: “These are serious offences he finds himself charged with and they can only be dealt with at the crown court.”
Mohamed was remanded in custody to next appear at Oxford Crown Court on Friday.
