A 24-year-old man from East Oxford has been charged with rape, kidnap, and robbery in connection with an attack in Oxford in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police said that Yasin Mohamed, of Aston Street, Oxford, was arrested on the day of the offence following intensive enquiries by Oxford CID and detectives from Thames Valley’s Major Crime Unit.
The victim, a 19-year-old foreign student, was walking along St Clement’s Street in the early hours of the morning, when she was grabbed, taken into the nearby St Clement’s Church graveyard and attacked. She was then taken to a property in the East Oxford area and raped.
The man remains in police custody and will appear before Oxford Magistrates Court in the morning.
