IT WAS a day to celebrate the Emerald Isle as 70 members of Oxford’s Irish community got together to mark St Patrick’s Day.
Oxford Irish Society holds an annual lunch to celebrate the saint’s day and this year people gathered at the Hawkwell House Hotel, Iffley, to enjoy food and drink from their home country, along with entertainment. A musician from Northern Ireland travelled to Oxford to perform at the event, which was attended by the group’s secretary Bernie Downes, pictured wearing the cowboy hat, and treasurer, Eve Boore.
The celebrations continued into the evening, with a dance at the Rover Sports and Social Club in Roman Way.
