I came to Chandlings in September 2008 from Leeds where I had been the Head of the Junior School to the Grammar School. Having forged many changes to the academic and pastoral life of the school, I count myself as an innovator and a builder - of ideas and strategies as much as of bricks and concrete. I am driven by a love of children individually and collectively. To be able to make a difference and to see the smile of recognition is, to me, a reward beyond price.
Blessed by the long awaited arrival of a baby daughter, my husband and I wanted to find a place for us to be together – somewhere where we could all grow. As with many parents, the desire to find a nurturing environment for our child to develop into a confident, kind and fulfilled individual became our firm focus. So, with a personal and professional eye on schools with ‘that special something’, I came across Chandlings.
Already recognised as a successful school, Chandlings offered to us a true sense of ‘family’. The children that I watched playing together whilst on a visit convinced me that this was a place of kindness, endeavour and love of the individual. Chandlings’ parents embrace the changes necessary for school development – they are happy to be part of the journey and it is my pleasure to be here leading the school.
With boys and girls taking part in learning side by side both inside and outside of the classroom, happy and focused in their activities, Chandlings is a wonderful place to be. Adults and children know that everyone here is valued and that assisting every pupil to reach their potential is a team effort and an absolute privilege.
