BICESTER’S town centre is looking spick and span after a week-long spring clean.
Cherwell District Council’s street cleaning team were out in force, collecting litter, removing dog mess, graffiti and sweeping the roads and streets.
Launton Road, Kings End, Manorsfield Road and Sheep Street were all targeted.
Street cleaning supervisor Paul Devine said: “It’s just an extra special clean up.”
George Reynolds, Cherwell’s executive member for environment, recreation and health, said: “In an ideal world, everyone would take pride in their environment and we wouldn’t need to do this kind of thing.
“Unfortunately, there are those who believe it is fine to throw their rubbish and cigarette butts all over the floor, spray-paint walls or let their dogs foul the pavement.
“We spend a great deal of everyone’s money clearing up after this inconsiderate few when there are plenty of litter bins, dog waste bins and lamppost ashtrays provided.”
