Greene King ODDA Section 2 leaders Rileys Social Club A made the short trip to Cowley Workers Club and suffered a rare defeat, going down 5-4 in a thriller.

Workers took the opening game when Keith Dickerson hit a brilliant 161 finish in defeating Anthony Barrett.

Rileys replied via Sean Holly, who beat Dez Slezak, before Workers hit back for a 3-1 lead, thanks to Simon Powell and Lyndon Richards.

Peter Gough and Steve Skelton brought the leaders level, before a 2-1 pairs win wrapped up victory for Workers.

Rose Hill CC A moved to within two points of the top after an 8-1 triumph over the visiting Marsh Harrier A.

Justin Barrett put the home side ahead in the opener, Chris Kearney defeating Dave Witherwick to level the scores.

Rose Hill then moved into top gear from Bob Boyce Geordie Grant, Ray Pape and Darren Allen put them 5-1 lead clear, and a 3-0 pairs success put the icing on the cake.

Kidlington Green’s 9-0 victory over visitors Catherine Wheel C leaves them on the verge of the Section 3 title.

They now need just seven points from their last two games to clinch the crown.

Quarry Gate A have already wrapped up Section 4.

Blackbird Bar A moved into second place after a comfortable 7-2 win over the visiting Nuffield Bar and need only three more points to take the runners-up spot.

Section 5’s top clash saw the leaders Democrats Social Club A entertain second-placed Original Swan B.

And it was the Swan who shocked the top dogs by winning 6-3, which leaves them 16 points adrift having played two games fewer.

Vikings A, the long-time leaders in Section 6 , consolidated their position at the top by seeing off visiting Democrats Social Club B 7-2.

Second-placed Cricketers Arms B lost ground in a 6-3 reverse at Quarry Gate B.

Golden Ball are Section 8 champions after going through the season unbeaten with 12 wins from 12 matches.

Section 9’s top of the table clash saw leaders Shelley Arms visit Chequers Inn C.

Shelley took the opening game when Bryan Cross beat Luke Ambler, the home side hitting back through Ryan Armson and Brodie Edmunds.

The visitors levelled when Ben Washington saw off Ross Gibson, before Chequers went 4-2 up thanks to Robert Malpas and Richard Hathaway.

Shelley now head the section by just a point, having played one game more then Chequers.

Section 10 leaders Black Horse need just one point from their remaining game to secure become champions after a 6-3 victory over the visiting Blackbird Bar B.

* IT proved a great night for the ladies last week with no fewer than four of them hitting maximums. They were Chris Thompson (Blackbird Bar), Jo Gleed (Florence Park A), and Nuffield Bar duo Kim Ledbury and Hazel Prowton.
