ON THE subject of the closure of some Oxford lavatories, Councillor John Tanner (Oxford Mail Viewpoints, March 11) says: “Labour has already saved the toilets”.
Four of the seven public toilets which Mr Tanner himself proposed to shut were saved after there was a public outcry, but I have not seen any notice that the three other toilets are being “saved” by Labour.
Mr Tanner also boasts “We plan a community toilet scheme involving shops and pubs”.
As he doesn’t tell us how many shops and pubs have signed up to offer their toilets to be used by anybody, I suspect that this is another of John’s promises that may never come true.
I have heard the phrase ‘toilet humour’, but Mr Tanner’s hypocrisy is beyond a joke.
