A stalker who sent lewd letters to female stars has been banned from contacting any celebrities for a year.

Former postman Mark Taylor, 47, targeted actress Meg Ryan, Big Brother winner Kate Lawler and television presenter Penny Smith by sending them parcels containing pictures and obscene messages.

Taylor, of Marston, Oxford, had already been given a restraining order preventing him from making contact with the women, along with fellow celebrities Kylie Minogue, Dannii Minogue, Fearne Cotton, Lily Allen and Jennifer Aniston.

He was given a 12-month supervision order at Oxford Crown Court on Monday after breaching the restraining order, imposed by magistrates in Bromley, south-east London, in 2007, by sending the packages in September and October last year.

A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said they contained photographs of the women as well as images of a "soft porn nature", accompanied by lewd messages.

He will now have to stay at a bail hostel in Oxford for the next year and cannot contact anyone in the public eye.

Detective Constable Simon Beaton said: "People have the right to enjoy the comfort of their own home without this kind of invasion and we will take steps to pursue such individuals and curtail this kind of activity."

Many of the items Taylor sent were seized by Royal Mail before they reached their intended victim.

Andy Tillyer, investigation team manager at Royal Mail, said: "We police what is sent through the post, and this man is somebody who's been misusing the postal service."
