A man from Oxford who persistently sent lewd letters and pictures to at least six celebrities has been given a 12-month supervision order by Oxford Crown Court today.

Mark Taylor, 47, of Arlington Drive, Marston, was charged with breaching a restraining order imposed on him at Bromley Magistrates’ Court in 2007, which prohibited him from contacting a specific number of people in the public eye, including Jennifer Aniston and Kylie Minogue.

Taylor’s latest offences were committed in September and October last year and included him contacting GMTV presenter Penny Smith.

He has been ordered to remain at a bail hostel in Oxford and have no contact with any individuals with a public profile for a year.

Det Con Simon Beaton, from Thames Valley Police, said: “People have the right to enjoy the comfort of their own home without this kind of invasion and we will take steps to pursue such individuals and curtail this kind of activity.”

Taylor is a former postal worker and many of the items he sent were identified while being handled by the Royal Mail before they reached their intended recipients.

Andy Tillyer, the investigation team manager from the Royal Mail: “We police what is sent through the post and this man is somebody who’s been misusing the postal service.”
