A 23-year-old man died today after a car crashed into the central reservation of the A40 near Wheatley and landed on its roof.
The silver Renault Clio was travelling from Oxford towards Wheatley when it crashed at about 4.20am today.
The 23-year-old man was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, but did not survive.
Three other men, in their early 20s, were taken to hospital in a serious condition. Their current condition is not known.
Police spokesman Victoria Brandon said officers would not comment on whether the dead man was the driver or a passenger.
Police closed the A40 between the Headington roundabout and the B4027 for Wheatley to launch an investigation into the causes of the crash.
It was reopened at 7.30am.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no one has been arrested, Mrs Brandon added.
Police are appealing for anyone with information, or who saw the car before the crash, to contact PC Murray McLean on 08458 505 505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
