THE ambition and cheek of thieves who attempted to steal copper wire from beneath Botley Road certainly exceeds their abilities.
Despite donning clothes to appear like workmen and coning off a bus lane, they then managed to bungle the enterprise – cutting off 2,800 connections.
Metal theft has plagued the county for some time but it is getting ridiculous if crooks are virtually going underground to swipe telephone cable.
