WHETHER parking, or travelling by bus, or even walking past, one cannot fail to notice all the lights which are on day and night at the Westgate Car Park.

As an individual building, there are probably more lights on than any other in Oxford.

Surely they are not all needed, especially during daylight hours.

Every other light could be disconnected and still there would be sufficient lighting during the day and quite a large saving made.

We are asked to save electricity and turn off all applianaces and not leave them on standby, and we are told about the carbon footprint.

To see a car park like this one lit up, it’s laughable. No wonder the car parking is so expensive – it pays for the electricity bills.
