Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Oxford and his car was stolen.
At about 7.15pm yesterday, a 27-year-old man was walking back to his car in Kingfisher Green, Greater Leys, when he was approached by a man who demanded he hand over his money and mobile phone.
The man refused and the two men were then involved in a scuffle, in which the victim was struck in the leg with an unknown object.
During the scuffle the man dropped his car keys and the robber picked them up and ran to his car, got in and drove away. Officers recovered the vehicle at about 7.45pm in the rear car park at the Kassam Stadium, near to the Gala Bingo entrance.
Det Sgt Laura Auger said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything to come forward.
“This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated by Thames Valley Police.”
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and bailed to reappear at St Aldates police station on April 28.
Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Auger via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505, or alternatively contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
